Insulators are essential to the safe and stable distribution of electricity generated at power plants. Found in power handling equipment at power plants and substations, hollow insulators support electric wires and carry electricity safely to the equipment. Hollow insulators are components of the bushings that ensure safe handling of electricity by transformers and circuit breakers. They are also used in instrument transformers, which measure voltage and current.
As per the specific high-voltage apparatus it matchches, hollow insulator can be divided into instrument transformer bushing, hollow instrument for surge arresters, transformer bushing, circuit-breaker bushing etc.
Hollow insulator applies to power frequency a.c. or d.c. rated voltage 40.5~220k power plant electrical apparatus, which is the key fitting acted as supporting and insulating for high-voltage electrical equipment.
Hollow insulators installation site altitude shall not more than 1,000 meters, some of which shall not more than 4,000 meters. The ambient temperature -40~+40ºC.
As per the matched high-voltage electrical equipment, hollow insulator is divided into pollution class 3 and 4.
